Crowther Engineering Ltd is a precision engineering facility specialising in horizontal boring and tuning. The company was first established in 1982 by Derek Armitage and Bill Fairnington at Phoenix Road, Crowther Industrial Estate. It was bought in October 1996 by Alan Hardy and Nick Langstaff with the emphasis of keeping the company focused on machining skills.

Due to the continual growth of the company, it was decided in 1998 to relocate to a larger ten thousand square feet workshop in Hutton Close, Washington. Due to relocation, the company is now in the position to be able to offer its key customers the facility to design and manufacturer welding fixtures, tack weld fixtures and machine fixtures. This step has proved vital in the continuing progress of the company.
